It’s crazy to see how far their influence still goes – practically every Tango-themed circus act has roots in here, and from Eric Varelas & Amélie Demay a couple of years earlier:
I am sure Tango acts must have been featured in trad. touring circuses too. Any ideas?
Indeed I was sure I’d seen an old circus poster with a Tango themed act but had a look through where I might have seen said image and have concluded it probably doesn’t exist.
Tango seems to have got popular at the turn of the 20th century so I hope it didn’t take circus artists 80 years or so to think of combining the two! Having said that I’ve still not come across any old examples.
Someone correct our ignorance!
